Working with world famous neuroscientist Adam Gazzaley I was put in charge to deisgn a game that would take his research of the positive neurological effects of game playing to the next level. Balam was developed using next level gaming technology, including the Oculus Rift DK2, Kinect 2, and even including the player’s heart rate in the game. Currently UCSF is undergoing an elaborate study to discover if playing Balam will simultaneously increase player’s physical fitness and cognitive functionality. Balam is making headlines, covered by BBC, NPR, and the art work is due to be shown in a 2016 issue of National Geographic.
